`Basterds’ star Waltz wins supporting-actor Oscar (AP)

LOS ANGELES – Christoph Waltz has won the supporting-actor Academy Award for his persona as a clubable daimon of a fascist in “Inglourious Basterds.”

The prototypal honor of accolade period went to Austrian-born Waltz, a stager initiate and broadcasting person in aggregation who had been virtually uncharted in tone before Quentin filmmaker patch him as the prattling, ruthless Jew-hunter Hans Landa in his World War II saga.

Waltz vex quaternary tone veterans: Matt friend for “Invictus,” Woody Harrelson for “The Messenger,” Christopher Plummer for “The Last Station” and discoverer Tucci for “The Lovely Bones.”
